Membership Fees had been determined at the first Annual General Meeting held in 2009 and members decided that the Stellenbosch Fire Protection Association should start with an entry fee for the first 3 years of R500 per year. Members will after 3 years at the Agm decide if fees should escalate.
Members decided that membership fees should be a once off fee paid every year and that the SFPA do not work on a once a Year and per hectare fee. Reason being that our area is unique as there are large properties and small properties and that yearly income per property differs. Bigger properties have less income than smaller properties and it will be unfair to charge bigger properties more than small properties with a larger income.
Membership Fees
Members who recieved invoices to please pay membership fees and send proof of payment for issue of membership card for 2013. Remember: the membership certificate is only valid if accompanied by the latest paid up membership card.

About
The National Veld and Forest Fire Act 101 of 1998 stipulates that a Fire Protection Association must be formed, as to deal with all aspects of veldfire prevention
and fire fighting. However membership is compulsory, according to the law. One must however know that if you are not a member of the FPA then you will have
no legal cover in terms of the Law and will be deemed guilty until proven innocent if a fire should start on your property and spread to adjacent properties. If the latter should happen when you are an enrolled member of the FPA then you have the cover that you are innocent
until proven guilty. The Law also stipulates that all landowners must have adequate fire fighting equipment and that all employees be trained in fire fighting. The Law also stipulates with regards to firebreaks and the necessity there-of.
The Fire season is once again upon us. I hope that You have done Your housekeeping ahead of this season as it is important that fire breaks are maintained and fire gear serviced and ready for use in case of fire. Some members had their personnel trained in Fire Fighting Level 1 as to prepare for the fire season.
